About the Item
Elegant oval mirror from Piedmont, made of finely carved linden wood gilded with gold leaf. The object, small in size (57 cm in maximum width by 48 cm in height), is distinguished by its refined sculptural workmanship in the Louis XVI style. The entire surface is embellished with floral and ribbon motif decoration, enhanced by careful engraved striping within the friezes, which gives greater depth and light play to the carved areas. The warm and bright gilding enhances the plastic rendering of the engravings. The mirror part has been replaced, but originally the frame may have housed a painting or pictorial decoration, as was sometimes the case in artifacts of this type.
An exquisite object, ideal for elegant settings or for collectors attentive to the decorative details of late 18th-century Piedmont.
