Nico Yektai
Nico Yektai has developed a distinctive approach to designing and making furniture. The essence of his style is that each component within a piece of furniture becomes the decoration. The components are pushed, pulled and faceted as the composition comes to life in the moment. This process is similar to the way a painter builds up a canvas one brush stroke at a time. It is not a surprise that he grew up in a house with Manoucher Yektai, a painter from the New York School, who painted with gestural pallet knife strokes. Scale models begin the process when he is designing a new piece or modifying an existing one for a client. Working in three dimensions at scale allows him to compose as if it were the real thing. An added bonus is that he uses photographs of those scale models as a means of communicating his intentions with the new piece. Clients find this very helpful. Yektai began working with cast concrete when he decided that he wanted to make a series of outdoor benches. A new material demanded a new vocabulary. He has developed a system for casting that allows tremendous flexibility. He is able to capture the same spontaneity in his concrete work that is characteristic of his wood work. The combination of materials was so engaging that he now includes cast concrete in many of his interior pieces. Nico Yektai opened the doors to his studio in 1995 in Sag Harbor Ny in the heart of the Hamptons.
Each instance of this piece will be a unique composition. Scale models will be used to communicate the design if necessary.
Customizations include:
- kind of wood for the frame
- type of veneer for the drawers
- size and height of the piece can be customized

Modern Floating Console with Drawers and Doors by Nico Yektai
By Nico Yektai

The exploration of the floating console as a subject continues. This iteration sees the introduction of doors and cabinet space combined with drawers. The result is both sculptural and utilitarian. I was particularly thrilled with the discovery of the sculptural transition between the doors and the cabinet space. Commissions for this version have ended up being at the heart of entertainment systems...

"Liquid Days" Mirror Designed by Nestor Perkal for Oscar Maschera
By Nestor Perkal, Oscar Maschera
Located in Brooklyn, NY
"Liquid Days" is a mirror, designed by Nestor Perkal and manufactured by Oscar Maschera. It's shaped by the mirror itself which makes the leather taut. Sewn and assembled, leather takes shape and becomes a carapace. Leather colors available: tan, sienna, orange, red, red-purple, dark brown, khaki, blue, black.
DIMENSIONS:
D. 64.1", W. 25.9", H. 1.4"
"Mirrors should reflect a little before throwing back images." Jean Cocteau, Le sang d'un poète (1930)
Nestor Perkal said about "Liquid Days":
"This object has always fascinated me. Is it there simply to reflect our image or is it looking at us? It envelopes us, searches for us, constantly questions us. At Oscar Maschera I looked for what leather could bring to this object and how it could become its supporting structure."
NESTOR PERKAL, born in Buenos Aires, lives and works in Paris. Though he trained as an architect, his work has always been oriented to design and interior architecture. In 1985, he founded an international design gallery in Paris, l’Espace Nestor Perkal, where he was among the first in Europe to show and sell pieces from the “New International Design” movement: Memphis Milano, Mariscal and many others.
From 1987-1994, he was the artistic director of the goldsmith’s company Algorithme, where he invited many designers to work on edition projects that were highly successful in France and abroad. As a designer, he has collaborated with Drimmer, Lou...

Carabottino is a collection made of a clever play of textures and
