Wall Mirror by Irena Jaworska, Copper and Talosel, France 1970s

About the Item

Wall Mirror by Irena Jaworska, Copper and Talosel, France 1970s Rectangular copper and talosel wall mirror decorated with green cabochon resin stones. Subtle mix of smooth and rough textures on the gilded and copper parts. Great blend of geometric shapes, with the squared and rounded resin cabochons. This mirror was crafted by designer Irena JAWORSKA (1926-2021), who was an artist and jewelry designer of Polish origin. She was a student of Line VAUTRIN and attended her classes upon her arrival in Paris in the 1960s. This school was located at 29 Quai des Grands Augustins in Paris. Line Vautrin taught her students, including JAWORSKA, the cutting of talosel plates, trimming of patterns, molding, gluing, coating, and the hot inlaying of all kinds of materials. The objects came in all shapes, including mirrors, oxidized, sometimes cracked, regenerating her earlier art. Irena JAWORSKA always worked independently and in an artisanal manner. This mirror is a great example of her craftmanship ! Winner of the Bijorka salon in 1980, she ended her activity in the 1990s.
