About the Item

Beautiful American 18th century four poster bed retaining original red finish. Likely from Salem Massachusetts, this early Survivor is in excellent condition. Ready to be slept in to create your dreams. People often ask about custom mattresses. Here in the state of Massachusetts there are many custom mattress makers. And generally for about $1,000 you can have your custom mattress made and delivered within 5 days. Finding items like this and they're full original state is not an easy task. Especially not beds of the 18th century as many of them were cut down or thrown away. Custom iron bars were created by the previous owner to go through the Rope holes from side to side. When Ttghtened the bed is very sound . Please also note that should you choose not to use the arched Canopy top that the height of just the posts is 67 in should you have a lower ceiling. This one is of Museum quality. Now on view at the Berkshire galleries of Great Barrington Massachusetts
