About the Item

This elegant New York poster bed has some of the finest hand carving and delicate details making it a very fine example of a Federal bed. The solid mahogany post have opposing twist feet with brass cups below the bedstead. Each column going up to four lamb tongue corners where the turnings start with a reeded cuff below a leaf carved urns going up to opposing twist columns below acanthus carved urns finish with acorns top the cones. The headboard is solid mahogany with an carved crest of a floral basket flanked by Acanthus S-scroll. This exceptionally carved mahogany four poster bed has been converted to a king size bed for modern use by our traditional cabinet-maker. The king size mattress fits on top of the bed rails.
