Belle Époque French Gilded Iron Daybed, 19th Century

About the Item

A charming 19th-century French cast iron daybed, richly detailed and full of antique character. The frame is elaborately cast with scrollwork, lattice, and foliate motifs, highlighted with hand-applied gold accents over a warm, timeworn ivory-painted surface. The gently curved ends and turned legs rest on original casters, making it both decorative and functional. The upholstery is in a distinctive verdigris green velvet, with two matching bolster cushions and plush layered mattress pads, all of which appear to be original or period-appropriate replacements. The texture of the fabric complements the ornate ironwork beautifully, offering both comfort and visual appeal. Signs of age, including minor paint loss and surface wear, contribute to its authentic patina. This piece reflects the elegance of the French Belle Époque, ideal for use as a daybed, settee, or sculptural centerpiece in an eclectic or classical interior.
