Exceptional 19th Century Hand Carved Italian Walnut Day Bed Cherub Putti's Angel

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare Circa 1840-1860 hand carved walnut Italian daybed with cherub putti decoration and chesterfield tufting What a find! This has to be the most decorative bed I have ever seen! It is carved all over in the highly collectable mid nineteenth century Italian style, there’s not one part of this bed which isn’t well though out, its pure art furniture It is in the original condition, I would say its for decoration only in its present condition, one or two of the legs have been repaired, I’m not sure to what standard the work has been done, there are some losses to the timber here and there, under the mattress there is no sub frame, it should have some slats I think. I can have this fully restored and made gallery perfect for the cost price should the new owner wish Dimensions: Height:- 115cm headboard, 77cm footboard Depth:- 96cm Length:- 220cm Inside dimensions: Side bar height:- 41cm Depth:- 95cm outside the frame, 82cm inside the frame Length:- 189cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
