About the Item
A majestic all brass four poster bed bedstead with crown and canopy. Detailed etched brass posts, displaying ornate brass fittings, support an impressive canopy, with decorative fretwork castings, surmounted by a brass crown. The two superbly elaborate panels have serpentine shaped top rails and large ornate brass castings.
This bed was made in Birmingham, UK, for the export market in the late 19th century.
A lozenge registration date stamp on one brass fittings gives the design registration date as July 1871.
This is one of the finest examples of Victorian highly decorative brass four poster beds we have ever dealt with.
This bed has absolute measurements of:
Width 64.5 inches (164 cm).
Length 87 inches (221 cm).
Height to top of canopy including crown 123 inches (312 cm).
The mattress to fit the bed will be a standard British king size (as shown in the photographs), 5ft. wide x 6ft. 6in. long (150cm x 200cm).
The price includes a standard firm bed base to support the mattress.
The mattress, bedding and bed linen are extra.
