About the Item
The Italian project Q.bo Sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
With this nightstand we approached a Scandinavian Modern design from the ‘80s. When the artist saw the item in the second hand shop, he imagined immediately the finished sculpture and bought it without hesitation.
The finish is bright bronze and teal resin applied with a spatula in two coats. A same color dye has been applied by hand over the resin finish. This technique creates a visual and tactile effect and gives a protection from scratches and small bumps. Furthermore the cabinet is cleanable with a damp cloth and is water-repellent.
The structure has still the original wood while in the cut sections a new wood part has been added. Drawers can be opened as originally. The inside of the cabinet is natural as it shows the authentic wood.
The wood is in constant motion, cracks and small chinks on the surface are natural and unstoppable parts of the life of this piece.

Q.bo sculture
THE SMALL ITALIAN FURNITURE-SCULPTURE THAT FURNISH
The project Q.bo sculture gives new shapes to small pieces of vintage furniture from the 1950s and 1960s. The purpose of the project is not to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while preserving the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture for living room or kitchen, hall or bedroom, but an indipendent form able to fill a space, tell a story and arouse emotions by itself.
In each piece is possible to follow all the processing phases and all the materials it is made of. Looking the backside of the cabinet, its door and drawer, we still see wood, nails, joints used originally and it is like to step in a 1950s-1960s room. This new resin “dress” and form launches the vintage furniture to our present in a contemporary style.
Q.bo sculture was born from an idea by the architect Marco Padovese, driven by constant experimentation and the desire for express himself.
Marco Padovese, after his artistic education and a degree in architecture, deals with architectural restoration, building and furniture. This new project, Q.bo sculture, develops his artistic journey where the goal is to leave a mark, to create a shape with every probable or improbable tool. He has always hands covered with stains of paint, resins, ink, cement, glue, chalk or whatever he is using to create a cabinet, a paint or a sculpture. He exhibits his works in art galleries and fairs in Florence, Venice, Padua.

The project Q.bo sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
After a visit at Depero house, I had the inspiration for this night stand from 1950s. The structure has still the original wood, as visible on the inner side and original hardware, while in the cut sections a new plywood has been added.
The finish is brown and red-copper colored resin applied with a spatula in two coats. This technique creates a visual and tactile effect and gives a protection from scratches and small bumps. Furthermore the cabinet is cleanable with a damp cloth and is water-repellent.
Drawer and shuttle can be opened as originally but they are adapted to the new shape. The inside of the cabinet is natural as it shows the authentic wood...
