About the Item

This ingenious design for children is from German (DDR) designers Hans Brockhage and Erwin Andra made in the early 1950's Hans Brockhage (1925-2009) was wounded in WWII and started a study as sculptor in 1945 in Dresden were he got educated by important Dutch designer Mart Stam Erwin Andrä (1921) started as a model builder and was also educated in Dresden where he became a teacher after WWII In the 1960's he became director at the institute for toys Sonneberg and later rector at the school for industrial design The Schaukelwagen is fine example of how 3 designers with each their own perspectives worked together in the DDR resulting in this design classic for kids
