Oak 19th Century Georgian Style Childs Chair

About the Item

A Very Attractive Late 19th Century Oak Childs Chair, Of Hepplewhite Style, Having Attractive Shaped And Pierced Splat Back, Over Faux Leather Drop In Seat, Raised On Square Legs And Stretchers. Childrens, or Childs Chairs as the name suggests were made throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and beyond, often as scale models of their full size counterparts for the children of the family to use in all manner of settings and circumstances. They can therefore be found in all manner of scales, shapes and sizes dependent mainly on the age of the children in the family which they were initially commissioned for, combined with the style of the existing furniture within that home. This particular childs chair appears to have been made in the late 19th century, using the 18th century hepplewhite style in terms of its design. It is constructed from oak timbers which retain a lovely warm, mellow surface and the drop in seat which is in reasonable condition appears to be covered with some sort of faux leather. It would be very easy and inexpensive for the purchaser to have this recovered in a fabric of their choice should the current covering not be desirable on arrival. As with all items which we offer for sale it has received a natural wax polish and is in good, ready to place straight into the home condition. Circa 1880. Height 30.5in. Width 17.25in. Depth 19in Seat Height 12.5in.
