A striking uniformly bound set of the poetical works of Alfred Lord Tennyson. Bound by Wood of London. Alfred Tennyson was the Poet Laureate for most of Queen Victoria's reign, securing great success during his lifetime. His poems still live on, with him becoming one of the most popular British poets ever. His poems include 'Ulysses', 'The Lady of Shalott', and 'Lady Clara Vere de Vere'. This set contains: 'Maud, and Other Poems', published in 1855. The first edition. Bound without the adverts, so it is unclear which impression. 'Enoch Arden, etc', published in 1864. The first edition. Bound without the adverts, so it is unclear which impression. 'The Holy Grail, and Other Poems', published in 1870. The first edition. Bound without adverts. Bookplate of George Abraham Crawley to the front paste downs. Crawley was an artist and designer, who designed Crowhurst Place and Westbury House. Bookplate of L. R. Rawlings to the recto of the front endpapers. In a full morocco binding, bound by Wood of London. Externally,smart. Small patches of rubbing to the joints. Light bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head of the spines of 'The Holy Grail' and 'Becket'. A few light handling marks to the boards. Small bump to the rear board of 'The Holy Grail'. Spines are a touch faded. Bookplate to the front paste downs and to the recto of the front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Overall: Near Fine
