A twelve volume edition of the complete works of William Hickling Prescott, edited with the author’s latest corrections by John Foster Kirk.
William H. Prescott was an American historian and Hispanist, who is widely recognized as the first American scientific historian and one of the most eminent historians of his era.
This set features:
'The History of the Reign of Ferdinand and Isabella the Catholic', in two volumes.
'The History of the Conquest of Mexico with a Preliminary View of the Ancient Mexican Civilization and the Life of the Conqueror Hernando Cortes', in two volumes.
'The History of the Conquest of Peru with a Preliminary View of the Civilization of the Incas', in two volumes.
'History of the Reign of Charles the Fifth by William Robertson, with an Account of the Emperor’s Life after his Abdication', in two volumes.
'The History of the Reign of Philip the Second, King of Spain', in three volumes.
And the single volume work 'Biographical and Critical Miscellanies'
In Morrell signed bindings.
In half calf signed bindings, with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, excellent, with a touch of rubbing to raised bands and back strip heads and tails. Minor losses of paper to tails of each front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with only the odd spot.
