Antique Art Nouveau German Leather Bound Encyclopedia of Scientific Inquiry Set

About the Item

This five volume set of leather bound 1st Edition encyclopedias were done by Weltall and Menschheit of Germany in 1900 in the period Art Nouveau style. This set is completely in German, but cover broad areas of scientific inquiry for the period and are nicely illustrated with both black and white and colored plates, a very small sample of which have been presented in this listing. Each volume is bound in brown leather and gilt lettering and decoration on the front and backs with an engraved plate on the front and marbled end papers within. Some wear to the bindings and covers, but no pages or plates appear missing. Please note that the dimensions posted below are approximate for each volume, but the total five volumes span ten inches across when stood upright.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. Two volumes show degraded leather bindings at their respective tops. Two volumes are missing the front engraved plates and some fading to the sides of the books as presented in the photos.
