Beautiful Homes and Gardens in California
About the Item
Important and lavishly produced survey of postwar California domestic architecture, written by Frank Lloyd Wright-trained California architect Herbert Weisskamp and published by Abrams in 1964. First edition, oblong 4to (10.25” x 7.25”) hardcover with pictorial dust jacket, 4 full color photos, 314 black-and-white photos (3/4 of them by Julius Schulman), plus 113 b/w plans, drawings, and elevations. Showcases the work of the following architects and landscape designers: Raphael Soriano, Pierre Koenig, Craig Ellwood, Frank Lloyd Wright, Mark Mills, Aaron Green, Harwell Hamilton Harris, Henry Hill, Jack Hillmer, Lawrence Halprin, Garrett Eckbo, Bettler Baldwin, Lloyd Ruocco, John Carl Warnecke, John Rex, Charles Eames, Lee Stuart Darrow, A. Quincy Jones and Frederick E. Emmons, Conrad Buff, Calvin Straub, and Donald Hensman, Greta Magnusson Grossman, David Thorne, Thomas D. Church, Martin Ruderman and Cactus Slim Moorten, John Lautner, George Frank Ligar, Bernard Judge, Thornton Ladd and John Field Kelsey, Edward A. Killingsworth, Jules Brady, Waugh Smith and Associates, and Richard J. Neutra, with whom the author worked. A scarce tome valuable for its perceptive introductory texts, the inclusion of numerous lesser-known and largely forgotten talents along with mid-century giants, the quality of the printed images, and the amount of visual information about the full scope of indoor/outdoor living, from landscape to structure to furnished interior. Hinges split, though binding still sound. Creasing to end papers. Light fraying to cloth; some foxing to boards. Light bumping and chipping to dj, with creasing across the top of front cover. A number of closed and open tears, some with taping, mostly to verso.

At Home in France: Inspiration and Style in Town and Country
Located in New York, NY
Author Timothy Corrigan, with Michael Boodro
In his third book, AD100 and Elle Decor A-List designer Corrigan shares the joys of decorating and living in his Paris apartment and new chateau infectiously inspiring us to design à la française.
Having a nineteenth-century apartment in Paris steps from the Trocadero and Eiffel Tower is a dream. So is owning an eighteenth-century chateau in the French countryside known as the “Versailles of the fields.” Having both? That’s the dreamy escapism found in designer Corrigan’s new book, which will enchant Francophiles and design lovers alike with its rich trove of ideas for anyone wanting to decorate in a French-inspired style.
In the first section of the book, Corrigan invites readers into his dazzling Paris apartment, walking them through the history of the building and his design plans, from the entryway through the salons, dining room, and bedrooms. In the second part, Corrigan shares his enduring love for French country homes. Traveling through his spectacular new château room by room, he tells the story of its purchase, restoration, and decoration. Layered throughout are insights and advice on topics ranging from antiquing in Paris, hanging art in the French style, hosting with panache, and exploring the French countryside.
With gorgeous new photography commissioned for the book, this volume is a must for everyone who dreams of living in France and bringing French chic into their own lives.
