C. 1947 Photograph by Julius Shulman of Kaufmann House by Richard Neutra 8x10 in

About the Item

This is Julius Shulman's iconic photograph of the Kaufmann House, designed by Richard Neutra in 1946 and photographed by Shulman in 1947. The house was commissioned by Edgar J. Kaufmann, Sr. who also commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. Shulman is arguably the most famous architectural photographer in history and is known as an instrumental figure in communicating American modernism to the eyes of the public throughout the 20th century. This image along with the "Two Girls" variation of Case Study House #22 (Stahl House) are perhaps his most iconic works. The black and white gelatin-silver print measures 8x10 inches and is an original photograph from Shulman's studio. The artist's studio stamp to verso "Photography by Julius Shulman 3950 West Sixth St., Los Angeles 5, Calif." along with architect's studio stamp "Richard J. Neutra, Architect & Consultant, 2300 Silverlake Blvd., Los Angeles, California" The photograph appears to be in nice original condition without tears or rips. If there are further questions, feel free to inquire. The photograph was acquired from the estate of an architect in California, who had a number of other photographs of the Kaufmann house as part of his estate as well.

Original untitled color chromogenic photographic print of the Hollywood Bowl under renovations by photographer Julius Shulman, signed. Framed in a black wood frame.
