1985 Richard Schultz for Conde House Prototype Large Low Coffee Table Signed
About the Item
Listed for sale is a Richard Schultz prototype coffee table, designed for Conde House, circa 1985. For many decades, this was used as Richard Schultz and his family's coffee table in their home. It is signed by Richard Schultz underneath as shown. Originally designed as a dining table, Richard later cut down the legs to use it as a coffee table. The table is in very nice condition. Richard's son Peter believed the top to be rosewood, though regardless, lovely grain shows beneath the dark finish.
This example was acquired directly from Peter Schultz, the son of Richard Schultz and co-owner of Richard Schultz Design. He remained a hugely influential part of the company for decades until production rights were sold back to Knoll in 2012. Peter Schultz annotated a list of details for each piece listed. I am thus able to verify both the authenticity and accuracy of each piece's background. Please note, multiple prototypes are available from different Schultz designs.
