Antonio Rodríguez (1765–1823) was the promoter of a society of engravers formed by himself and Francisco de Paula Martí, José Vázquez, Manuel Albuerne and Pedro Vicente Rodríguez. At the end of the 18th century and early 19th century they produced collections of prints focused on illustrating the costumes from Spain and the world, which enjoyed much success. These collections constitute first-rate documents to understand the development of elegant and popular fashion at the turn of the century and are considered an extraordinary documentary source for the study of Goya's Spain.
