DESCRIPTION: IN A FINE COSWAY STYLE BINDING. 1 vol., 8-1/2" x 6-1/8", bound in fine full light blue crushed morocco, ribbed gilt decorated spine, center spine panels each with a gilt tooled red morocco floral decoration, covers elaborately gilt tooled and paneled, gilt crest to front cover, matching gilt tooled red morocco floral decorations to corners, gilt dentelles, red morocco front doublure, front doublue inset with a brass ring and a fine portrait miniature of Maria Antoinette, surrounded by 4 pearls, rear doublue of red silk morie, front and rear endpapers of matching red silk morie, all edges gilt, by Sangorski & Sutcliffe for J. W. Robinson Co..
CONDITION: Internally clean and bright, inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spine fine, IN FINE CONDITION, housed in it’s original finely gilt full red morocco suede lined clamshell slipcase.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Meri Jaye (1920 - 2023), a renowned maritime collector and interior designer of passenger and cargo ships, Nob Hill, San Francisco. She also designed a line of leather goods and opened a chain of retail outlets in Mexico, "Meri Jaye Creaciones".
