Chinese Mustard Jade Archer's Ring, c. 1850

About the Item

Hand-carved of the highest quality jade, this 19th century Archer's ring was likely worn by a gentleman-scholar in Northern China. Traditionally, Chinese archers wore these rings to protect their thumbs while drawing a bowstring. Over time, these jade rings became fashion accessories and a decorative display of status. This stunning mustard jade ring, hued a lovely orange color with currents of red deposits, has been recently lined with sterling silver by a contemporary artisan, adding a modern finish and narrowing the interior diameter to ring size 10. All jewelry is final sale. No refunds or exchanges.
