About the Item

This is a rare, funny and well preserved desk game set/decorative object in hand-painted ceramic, made in Italy in the Eighties by renowned manufacturer Gabbianelli - as proved by the sticker underneath and the relief "G" under the main plate. It is an English style board for peg solitaire, a table game that consists in moving the pegs (in this case, ceramic marbles), "eating" one after the other, to end up with a single peg in the central slot, the same that is free at the beginning of the game to allow the first move. The set, designed by Ennio Lucini, is painted in a vibrant aquamarine shade, while the marbles are finished in cream white. It's interesting to note that the marbles differ from one another, since they are all hand-made. The board is preserved in very good conditions, showing only minor signs of use, some little dent on the glaze on the corners where the little ceramic spheres seat and is complete of all the 32 "pegs" required to play the game.
