Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this absolutely exquisite, silk Royal Opera Programme to Commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Queen Victorias ascension to the throne in her Diamond Jubilee A very good looking and highly decorative piece, you have an antique and rare original silk programme for a State Performance at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, 23rd June 1897, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's accession to the throne. The programme features performances from Tannhauser, Romeo et Juliette and Les Huguenots, the cast including Nellie Melba, Jean de Reszke, Edouard de Reszke and Emma Eames. The silk programme is printed with a decorative border and various oval portraits by Downey of Queen Victoria and other members of the British Royal family who attended the event, with a border of gold wire tassels The frame is a wonderful Anglo-Indian hand carved rosewood example, it dates to the export period so 1880-1910 and is period perfect The condition is good for the period, there will be some fading and discolouration over the years, it is silk after all Dimensions Height:- 53cm Width:- 42cm Depth:- 2cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

This original 18th century frame is gilded over copper. It is elaborately embossed and chiseled. The cartouche is surrounded by rocaille and volute motifs. The Carta is mounted on a wood backing and rests on two linear bases. It is very rare to find the original altar glory prayer still present inside. It explains the part of the Mass being performed. Important book 'Seigneurs et Princes de Monaco' by S.E René Novella and Philip Reder French, Late 20th century Book: height 6.5cm, width 30cm, depth 38cm Case: height 9.5cm, width 34cm, depth 40cm Beautifully decorated in the style reminiscent of Medieval illuminated manuscripts, the book describes the history of Lords and Princes of Monaco. Written by S.E René Novella and illustrated by Philip Reder in the late 20th century, it was manufactured using traditional bookmaking techniques by Arts et Couleurs. Intricate colour border detailing adorns the pages of this publication, with a colour palette of various shades of green, blue, and red predominating. The names of lords and kings are further decorated with ornate borders, including motifs such as a crown, and the text includes ornate, coloured lettering. A luxurious red satin case with a red leather spine protects the book which comes with a certificate of authenticity. A collection of red lacquer illustrations depicting various arches is part of the publication. Red leather was used for the cover of the book and is decorated with gold and black debossed patterns.
