About the Item

This antique Folk Art carved wooden sculpture is initialed on the base, but the artist is unknown. It is presumed this carving was done in the United States in 1945 in a Folk Art style. The carving is entitled "Old Grand Dad" and it's believed to be a stylized rendering of the well known 'Old Grand Dad's Whiskey logo of a Southern 'gentleman'. The carving is done in a hardwood, with a dark stain and painted accents with a high gloss finish. The carving is detailed from all sides and has a strong Folk Art flavor. The carving is initialed and dated on the base, but again, the artist could not be identified.
