About the Item

Huge 19th century plaster museum piece "Welcome" gold nugget model Victoria, Australia. This is rare. It’s the only thing left of the biggest gold nugget ever found, the Welcome Nugget, found in Victoria Australia in 1858. But of course it didn’t last long. Because of its elephantine value it was melted down into gold coins by the London Mint within two years. Luckily just before they did, a few models of the nugget were made. Most of these models are in museums now. This one used to be in the possession of a famous London mineral and fossil trader. Now it can be yours. Today the ‘Welcome’ nugget is still the second largest nugget ever found.

Early 1900s French Neoclassical Oval Brass Jewellery Box with Agate Moth Decor
Located in Haarlem, NL
Very pretty and heavy early 1900s Neo-Classical oval brass jewellery box with 2 moth decorations carved in agate. The figures on the (I think machine made repoussé) side look like from Roman times. The middle-eastern little tent shaped lid feels very Moorish, also the round glass 'gem stone' decorations look like the decoration on antique Moorish jewellery...

1920s Czech Taxidermy Cow Tur Domácí Bos Taurus Hind Leg Bone Classroom Study
Located in Haarlem, NL
Very interesting early 20th Century Czech made taxidermy cow "Tur Domácí Bos Taurus" hind leg for classroom study, probably used at a University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The leg is at least a hundred years old, you can see by the way it is fixed together (the curly iron thread) and the surface ware of the real bones, it is smooth and yellowish. The iron and wood holder however is probably aded very recently (my guess is in the 80s 90s). Tur Domácí Bos Taurus (which is Czech and Latin for domestic bovine, or domestic cow) is an even-toed ungulate from the genus Bos of the bovine family...
