Antique Italian Grand Neoclassical Roman Carrara Rosso Solid Marble Table
Located in Forney, TX
A rare and magnificent Italian Neoclassical Grand Tour Rosso & Carrera solid marble column table. Italy, 19th century, almost certainly Rome, exceptionally executed in timeless Greco-Roman classical taste, with nods to Holy Roman Empire church tabernacle stands and altar tables, a most impressive work, hand-crafted of the finest solid stones, having a bold and distinctive sculptural form, featuring a long thick rectangular white Carrara marble slab top with molded edge, inset with three highly polished Rosso Levanto marble panels, each showcasing deep reddish hues and striking interweaving glossy white veining, creating a strong yet harmonious contrast and stunning visual display; rising on chunky architectural turned column legs in iconic white Carrara marble with subtle light gray veining, terminating in square rosso levanto base block feet. Fine exhibition quality, almost certainly a custom made one of a kind work, that could have only been commissioned by someone with extraordinary means, such as aristocratic nobility, wealthy elite, important religious figure for a Catholic church, or perhaps it was exported to a foreign royal. Italian Grand Tour Alabaster Model the Roman Forum Temple of Vespasian
Located in Stamford, CT
Italian Grand Tour model of the ancient Temple of Vespasian located in the Roman Forum, Rome. Carved from alabaster, this is a handsome example of a souvenir carving which would have been collected by a European or American sophisticate making a Grand Tour of the ancient sites of Italy. This wonderful architectural miniature is evocative of another time and place. Roma Templo Di Vespasiano' etched into the black marble base. It has been drilled to be wired, not the first time I have owned one of these that had been mounted as a lamp. The Temple of Vespasian and Titus is located in Rome at the western end of the Roman Forum between the Temple of Concordia and the Temple of Saturn...
