About the Item

A scarce antique ecclesiastical architectural hand carved and painted wooden church - cathederal tabernacle door. 18th century or earlier, early Medieval European Romanesque Gothic style, facade with elaborate arched header atop partial quartfoil, hinged tabernacle door panel which would have opened to important religious niche compartment built into the wall, flanked by classical Corinthian capital turned columns, retaining remnants of white paint, with beautifully aged patina.
