About the Item

This Folk Art constructed model canon was made in Canada by a retired millwright in 1984 in the British Colonial style. This model canon loosely resembles the British field artillery canon known as the '7 Pounder'. This folk art model is made of machined billet aluminum and the canon barrel is solid brass. The machined wheels and supports have been painted a vibrant red with silver accents. This canon was fired after being made which apparently literally blew the barrel right out of the vice holding it, so it is a functional model although it is strongly recommended not to undertake such an attempt. The canon is mounted on a solid piece of aluminum on an angle and is signed by the maker on one side and also on a brass tag underneath it. There is also a brass tag on the side on the canon, noting the date it was made.
