19th century Spanish Colonial carved giltwood Triptych of Virgin Mary & Christ Child
Late 19th century, South America
Of exceptional quality, the hinged three panel devotional icon. Of hand -carved giltwood with three inset oil paintings, executed by a fine workshop.
When closed, the front shows the profusely carved twin giltwood arched doors. When opened, revealed is the large arched carved giltwood center plaque with an inset canvas painted with the Virgin Mary & Christ Child in landscape.
Flanked by the supporting twin carved giltwood foliate doors with painted vignettes of angels.

The Center panel is 8-Inches wide x 12-inches high, the each of the two side panels measure 4-Inches wide x 12-inches high
When fully extended the work measures 16-Inches wide x 12-inches high x 1-Inch deep/thick.
