About the Item

Antique wooden confessional. Simple and austere in construction, it is a characteristic piece of ecclesiastical furniture in small churches or chapels. The piece has a high back with an arched finish and a carved cross at the top, symbolising its religious function. In the centre, an oval vertical grille serves as a symbolic ventilation or separation element. The structure includes a genuflectory at the base, a slightly inclined platform where the penitent kneels, and a small shelf at the front which may have served as a support for books or liturgical objects. The wood shows visible signs of wear, reinforcing its prolonged use and giving it historical authenticity. This type of piece, both functional and symbolic, was often found in private worship spaces or in humbler parish settings. Ideal for sacred art collectors or environments looking to incorporate ecclesiastical elements with historical value.
