About the Item
A Fabulous Brass Mezuzah Case made in India in the Early 20th Century.
Judaica pieces all over the world generally resemble places and cultures that the Jewish people were surrounded with and in turn, the regions and structures they experienced were presented in the religious items they created.
This Mezuzah case is no exception, the backplate is made in a stylized fashion resembling two tulip-shaped candle holders with burning flames above them. A cylindrical tube is attached to the front of the backplate with two imperial baluster ends which resemble architectural palace domes found in that region.
A pierced window backed by glass is situated at the top front of the tubular casing enabling us to see the scroll safely encased within.
