About the Item

This altar crucifix showcases the refined detailing and spiritual gravitas of ecclesiastical design. Crafted in France circa 1920 in silvered iron, the crucifix features a Latin cross with flared Fleur-de-Lys terminals, symbolizing purity and the Holy Trinity. At the center, the finely cast figure of Christ is rendered with sensitivity and anatomical precision, while the crossbar is inscribed with the traditional “INRI” scroll above his head. The tall shaft is decorated with simple stylized engravings and rises from a beautifully cast tri-lobed base adorned with gothic foliate scroll-work and shell feet, adding structural elegance and balance. The reverse side of the cross is smooth and unadorned, highlighting the radiance of the silvered finish and clean form. In very good antique condition with light wear and minor oxidation consistent with age and devotional use. An evocative devotional object, perfect for a personal chapel, sacred space, or as a sophisticated spiritual accent in a traditional interior. 17"H
