Stunning and sculptural, Arts & Crafts era, church bible or book stand.
This late 1800s bible stand has beautiful details and it is in remarkably good condition. The stunning overal design with the detailed embossed decorations on the sides and the back are an absolute joy to look at. However, what makes this particular, Gothic table lectern stand out from the ones we have seen before is the winged eagle sculpture on the front. This particularly large bible stand with its unique design has been really well looked after and it is now ready to be enjoyed and taken care of by a new custodian. The workmanship with which this brass eagle has been created is something that you don't see anymore in this day and age. The amount of work that has gone into creating this sculpture would make it extremely expensive today and have you also noticed how and with how many nails this sculpture has been tightened to the wooden base or frame? We are certain that we don't have to tell our collecting clients about the deeper meaning of this church relic and we expect it too to find a good home soon, because it is great value for money.
