Deeply carved, extra large size, Gothic Revival corbel, bracket with a stunning patina.
Finding unique antiques that have just that little bit more than your average is what we always hope and strive to realize. This all handcrafted, Gothic Revival wall bracket has the most wonderful shape and patina and it is a design we have never sold or seen before. The organic design with the natural flowing lines of the deeply carved Gothic leafs are an absolute joy to look at. This kind of quality would have almost certainly been commisioned for by a church, because it were churches that had the means. What makes this large and gilt corbel extra special are the rare cross and feather symbols in the front center. We are certain these Christian symbols need not be explained to our 1stdibs clients. Apart from some superficial wear (consistent with age), this top quality and very deeply hand carved, solid wooden bracket from the late 1800s is in great condition. This fine antique can be the perfect base for displaying a religious statuette / saint sculpture.
