Raro orologio solare equinoziale dei primi del XIX secolo in ottone tornito e inciso, firmato Samuel Yeates Dublin (1762-1834). Buono stato funzionante. Misure cm 9,5x2 – inches 3.8x0.7. L'ultima foto è la confezione regalo. Si tratta di un antico strumento di misura del tempo, che permette di conoscere l’ora solare diurna, semplicemente osservando l’ombra prodotta dallo gnomone perpendicolare all’ago il cui orientamento è dato dalla bussola magnetica. Cassa in ottone tornito completa di coperchio, sul cui fondo è stata finemente incisa a bulino una bella rosa a otto venti di pregevole fattura completa di cerchio goniometrico diviso in 360°. Al centro dell’orologio solare è posto lo gnomone, fissato sopra il vetro di protezione della bussola; ponendo lo strumento nella posizione Nord/Sud, lo gnomone proietta la sua ombra nel cerchio dell’anello dove sono incise a bulino le ore diurne in caratteri romani. La meridiana è una linea orizzontale che passa per i punti Nord e Sud. Meridiana, nella nostra lingua, è anche sinonimo di orologio solare.
