A wonderful pair of original fishing watercolours, a self portrait of one of the most important golf artists of the Victorian era. Signed and dated 1886. Major Hopkins is well know for his golf watercolours but he was a keen fisherman who included angling among his contributions to 'The Field' magazine and wrote and illustrated "Fishing Experiences of Half a Century". These images were published by McQueen in 1886, The angling pictures have been completed on a light blue paper and painted in monochrome.
