Signed St Andrews Golf Print, Bobby Jones

About the Item

Rare Bobby Jones Signed 1927 Open Golf Championship Picture. An original 1930 limited edition lithograph titled "Robert Tyre Jones Jr. Winning the British Open Golf Championship". The colour lithograph print is one of 999 prints published, with copyright by Currier & Ives, Inc. It depicts Jones with his Calamity Jane putter holing out on the 18th green on the 'Old Course' at St Andrews to win the 1927 Open. This was the 62nd Open Championship and Bobby Jones, an amateur, successfully defended the title and was the first amateur to win the title back-to-back and the first Champion to retain since James Braid in 1906. He won with a dominating six-stroke victory with a total score of 285 strokes for 72 holes. The rare picture is made even more scarce by the appearance of a flawless black ink signature of the iconic golfer 'Bobby Jones', "Robt. T. Jones, Jr.". What is nice with this autographed piece is there is no inscription or dedication, just the signature. The extra print details are "Robert Tyre Jones Jr. winning the British Open Golf Championship, Reprinted In Fortune Magazine By Special Permission Of Currier & Ives, Inc. The first edition of 999 prints published and copyrighted by Currier & Ives, Inc.,1930, being the first of a series, From an original drawing by J.W. Williamson ~ dedicated by permission to Robert Tyre Jones, Jr. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club, St Andrews, Scotland, July 15, 1927, Aubrey Boomer, runner up. Score 291. Total score 285 strokes for 72 holes, being six strokes lower than ever scored previously in the British Open".
