About the Item

Victorian sterling silver cigar lighter. Made by Samuel Walton Smith & Co. in London in 1900. In form of pith helmet; spike flue between tools with Classical bust handles. An ode to empire that evokes the far-flung tropical bits. Rests on loops for tightening the chinstrap in case of native unrest. Fully marked. Weight: 5 troy ounces.
