About the Item

Italian sterling silver humidor or cigar box, adorned with a micromosaic on top depicting the Colosseum and Roman Forum, partially gilt around the edge of the micromosaic, in an elegant, geometric design. It measures 8'' by 6 1/8'' by 3'' in height. The matchbox holder was made by the American silversmithing firm, Kerr, and depicts the Pantheon of Rome on the micromosaic. It measures 2 1/2'' in height by 1 1/2'' in width by 3/4'' in depth. Hallmarks are shown. Total weight is 35.7 troy ounces. Kerr, a New Jersey-based silversmith founded in the 1880s, was a silversmith known for its Art Nouveau jewelry, vanity items, and holloware. In 1927, Gorham purchased the brand. Their work is present in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt Museum. Please feel free to ask us any questions, and please see our other listings. NO published price will beat ours.
