Chinese Mid-Century Gilded Coromandel Figural Folding Screen
About the Item
A large 6 panel Chinese Coromandel folding screen. This screen has a background that is primarily black lacquer. It features several building, clouds, figures, trees and birds.
Most of the decoration on the front of the screen is gilded. There are brass caps at the feet (which have patina). The back of the screen is less elaborately decorated. It features a tree, some flowers and two cranes (which symbolize longevity and good fortune in Chinese culture).
This is truly a functional piece of art. There are a few chips to the black lacquer that are not immediately noticeable. The piece is in very good condition given its age.
