A French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu fire screen

About the Item

An extremely elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu fire screen. This attractive three panel fire screen is supported on four Ormolu topie shaped feet. Each panel is edged with wonderful scrolling foliate designs and topped with finely foliate detailed urn shaped finials. The top crown of the center panel is decorated by a scrolling protruding top displaying acanthus leaves flanking the central reserve of a beautiful maiden adorned with a palmette headdress and a scrolling foliate bottom finial. Swaging berried laurel vines lead from the bottom finial beneath the top crown to the corners on either side.
