About the Item

A rare find is a handcrafted French Oak Kneading Dough Table from the early 19th century. This is a French bread dough trough which is a typical sight in the kitchens of large homes. The dough would be kneaded on the countertop and placed inside the trough or box to rise. Several batches of dough would be kept to rise. Top lifts off. Perfect for several uses such as a console, kitchen island, blanket chest, TV console, or even to place a vessel sink on top to use as a vanity. With its rustic charm and sturdy build, it serves as a testament to both functional elegance and historical craftsmanship.
