About the Item

One of a kind, early 1900s decorative art floor easel. This unique easel was all handcrafted around the turn of the century and it is the first studio easel that we have ever seen with integrated sculptures. For those sculptures to be a pair of stylized owls, makes it extra special, because these symbols for wisdom and learning also give deeper meaning to this antique. This adjustable in height Arts and Crafts easel is almost entirely made of pitch pine, it is as stable as the day it was made and it has a beautiful and warm patina. There most certainly are a few dents, some paint stains and the top of the wooden stem in the middle has (at some point in time) been shortened a little, but you can still display rather large paintings on this stand too (if you wish). About 20 or 30 years ago a former owners has put wheels underneath so that it now is easy to move around without scratching the floor. This unique, stylish, practical, striking and meaningful easel brings class, meaning & culture into your home or gallery and it will never fail to impress.
