Italian Mid-Century Modern umbrella stand in the style of Alessandro Mendini and Studio Alchimia, circa 1976-1980. The base is composed of carved travertine stone and the 3 containers are in chromed metal. The piece can also serve as a vase or urn.
A coat stand also attributed to Studio Alchimia and Mendini I is shown in the last image.

A beautiful circa 1960s vintage Italian umbrella stand by Bucciarelli, signed underneath with 'Bucciarelli Milano Made in Italy' label. An iconic set of a coat rack and umbrella stand from the 1976-1980 period in Italy attributed to Studio Alchimia, circa 1976. Each piece has a travertine stone base with 3 chromed metal inserts. One functions as a totemic coat stand with movable and orientable arms; the other as it's counterpart in dialogue, umbrella stand. Each piece is sculptural and functional. Rare and very special works of the Italian Radical Design movement in Decorative Arts expressing the sensibilities of anti-design and emerging Postmodern movements.
