North Germany / Prussia Birch Biedermeier / Empire around 1815 Dimensions: H x W x D: 174 x 102 x 55 cm Description: Very exclusive secretary from the Prussian North German Biedermeier period around 1815. Piece of furniture standing on pointed legs with two drawers at the bottom, the writing flap above, another drawer above and a hidden head drawer at the very top. The piece of furniture is veneered in exciting grained birch wood. Due to the different color hangings within the wood and the interplay of hues associated with it, we also refer to it as "flamed" birch. The beautiful wood is complemented by blackened moldings and beautiful fire-gilded bronze hardware in beautiful quality. The interior of the writing compartment is veneered in apple tree. We see a stair-like rise to a central door flanked by pilasters. Drawers of different sizes and two large compartments with dividers for letters and papers complete the secretary part. Looking at the piece of furniture from above, we see an old shipping label. According to it, the secretary was loaded onto the train at the station "Odertor" in Wroclaw. The destination was probably Berin. Corresponding mmarkings we find on the back panel. Piece of furniture made in wonderful quality craftsmanship. A true testament to the high quality of Prussian furniture...

A fine Biedermeier Period (1815-1848) walnut maple burlwood marquetry table cabinet - wunderkammer (cabinet of curiosities) with fifteen drawers and concealed secret compartments, circa 1820. This architectural curiosity cabinet is a testament to the ingenuity and artistry of European craftsmen from the early 19th century. The highly figured quilted wood grain, warm rich burled walnut panels, and hand sculpted and molded ebonized wood exterior boasts a dark, lustrous sheen, while delicate hand carved details adorn its surface, showcasing the finesse and precision of its creator. Probably Southern Germany, most likely Augsburg, having a rectangular raised top with visible hand cut dovetail joint case housing a single drawer, over exquisite stepped moulded ebony transition into large double door cabinet with the original hand forged iron hardware, opening to reveal an interior fitted with eleven drawers surrounding a single locking cupboard door, unlocking to reveal a stunning eight-pointed star marquetry inlaid spring loaded niche panel with hidden release, when triggered the niche slides out to reveal a trio of hidden storage compartments, including a deep bin and two small hidden drawers for the owners most precious valuables. Rising on shaped ebonized wood molding, over a distinctive masculine scalloped skirt, resting on ball feet. Four Georgian Wrought Iron Railing Lengths with Hand-Formed Circular End Finials

A set of four lengths of Georgian hand wrought iron railings with hoop style tops and circular hand formed end finials to each section. They are made from wrought iron so they are extremely strong and much stronger than cast iron and wrought iron requires little maintenance and defends rust and corrosion very well unlike cast iron, so they could be left to give the original look that they are. The end upright flat bars are heavy gage and perfect for fixing to a wall or a post. There is a top, middle and bottom heavy gage horizontal flat bar which join to the end uprights and hold the round bar and everything in place.
