Antique Caucasian Kuba Kilim, Late 19th Century

About the Item

Antique Caucasian Kuba Kilim Rug, Late 19th Century Combining bold geometry with pure color, this Kazak kilim from the South Caucasus draws alternating bands of blue and red. These bands are interspersed by thin white stripes with meandering geometric vine scroll. While large latch hook diamonds are drawn within octagons against the blue sections, free-standing diamond devices form rows against the madder red portions. These motifs create a graphic interplay between positive and negative spaces. Additional Information: Dimensions: 6'0" W x 9'9" L Origin: Caucasus Period: Late 19th Century Rug ID: 17667
