About the Item

This antique, circa 1890, Kurdish rug has a shaded brown-red field with tiny floral vine around diagonal rows of polychrome raspberry-red, shaded blue, bottle-green, ivory and fox-brown lozenges each containing a central polychrome lozenge with a hooked polychrome panel, in a brown-red border with linked bold cartouches each containing a hooked motif between ivory meandering and brown-red meandering light blue stripes. Persian Kurdish rugs are handwoven masterpieces crafted by Kurdish weavers in western Iran. Known for their durability, rich colors, and intricate tribal patterns, these rugs often feature geometric motifs, floral designs, and symbolic elements reflecting Kurdish culture. Woven with high-quality wool, they have a soft yet sturdy texture, making them both visually striking and long-lasting. Each rug is unique, showcasing the weaver’s artistry and the rich heritage of Persian Kurdish craftsmanship.
