About the Item

Fine antique tribal Caucasian rug from Dagestan formerly know as Baguestan. This geometric rug has excellent color combinations and the contrasting blue, red, beige and rust colors, are very pleasing to the eye. Antique rugs of this type date back from the 1890s and look magnificent as a final touch used in a living room or dining room rugs. This beautiful rug features a Folk Art design that looks as though it has been taken from the pages of a classic fable. Rich tones play against deep crimson and elegant background in a brilliant display of color and contrast. Several borders frame against one another, each leading the eye inward, where the majority of the action takes place. At the center of this beautiful semi antique rug are several floral arrangements, angular in their presentation but still conveying movement and grace. Diagonal lines mix with squares and stems to showcase the artist's incredible grasp of flow and unity through color.
