About the Item
Gorgeous natural and organic handwoven long hair wool rug from the Caucasus mountains of Russia, woven by the indigenous people of this region. The sheep from which this wool is sheared do not produce milk or meat due to the altitude so the local people developed this weaving tradition. No animals are harmed as there is no hide. The backing is also hand woven out of the same wool into a type of knitted foundation making it light and easy to shake out. These luxurious rugs cannot be vacuumed but merely shaken outside if needed. When cleaning is necessary it is recommended to use mild soap and water and dried in the sun.
These rugs are one of a kind and vary in color and size. No two will ever be identical. The color is also dependent on what wool is available.
