About the Item

The term Samarkand identifies those carpets produced by nomadic artisans at the centers of Khotan, Yarkand, Kashgar and the bazaar of Samarkand is the place of collection and trade. The richness of decorative themes of these carpets derives from the great cultural mix (Islamic / Buddhist) that characterizes the populations of this area, nevertheless, the variety of patterns of the Samarkand carpets are easily recognizable by the presence of common characteristics within the area. decorative repertoire. The motif of our carpet is the central medallion blue / pink on a red / pink field bordered by a large blue frame decorated with geometric motifs. Geometric and floral motifs blend and harmonize in the four corners of the carpet to form a refined decoration. Characteristic of this production is the long and narrow format.

Located in Firenze, IT
The Ersari are a tribe of the Turkmen people of Central Asia and one of the five main tribes of Turkmenistan. The Eersani tribe, the most numerous among the Turkmen tribe, takes its name from the legendary Turkmen hero Ersari Khan. The group's carpets generally attributed to the Ersari include specimens characterized by a vast repertoire of compositional schemes, drawings, and techniques; this is because, under the generic name of Ersari, carpets knotted by various sub-tribes are included. Of great interest is the archaic polygonal motif decorated with thin pendants (probably its derivation from ancient fabrics...

This Antique Lilihan Hamadan wool carpet measures 3’3” x 6’5” and is hand knotted in warm shades of pink, indigo blue, copper orange, forest green, and cream wool. Inspired by a traditional Persian flower garden, the design showcases a central floral medallion with additional geometric motifs such as botehs, birds, butterflies, branches, and vines adorning the field and border. These include the floral medallion, tree of life design, and circle of life theme among its flora, bird, and butterfly motifs. Second, the pattern in this carpet contains more geometry than most Lilihan designs, which typically depict more curvilinear motifs. Lastly, what truly makes this carpet so special is the presence of small crucifixes...
