Khotan rugs are unique in their presentation, utilizing vast expanses of negative space to draw attention to the foreground elements within. These beautiful Oriental rugs hail from the namesake city and showcase classical thematic motifs. An array of matching medallions spreads over the vermilion central field, each defined merely by its outline of a pale wheaten hue. The negative space between these figures forms a series of eight-pointed stars, a subtle but lovely illusion. A series of orange borders encloses the happy red antique Khotan rug, each accented with white and red in bold diagonals and stylized floral shapes.
